TransformSC’s Peggy Torrey on Carolina Classrooms

TransformSC’s Peggy Torrey appeared in a recent episode of SC ETV’s Carolina Classrooms focusing on college and career readiness.  The panel was moderated by Lemuel Watson, former dean in the College of Education at the University of South Carolina and current Executive Director at the Center of Innovation in Higher Education. Other panelists included Sheila Quinn from the SC Department of Education, Melanie Barton from the Education Oversight Committee, and Tim Hardee from the SC Technical College System.

The panel discussed the importance of the skills listed on the Profile of the SC Graduate, and the challenge of ensuring that every student in the state graduates with those skills. Panelists agreed that it is crucial to engage young students as early as possible to prepare them for their future careers.

The next episode of Carolina Classrooms will focus on how to prepare educators to teach the skills listed on the Profile.
