SC Aerospace holds quarterly event in Myrtle Beach with Grand Strand Technology Council and other partners

SC Aerospace partnered with the Grand Strand Technology Council and other economic development organizations in the Grand Strand region to hold its quarterly event in Myrtle Beach on April 27. More than 150 people attended the daylong event that featured aerospace and technology speakers, panels, breakout sessions and tours of regional assets relevant to both the aerospace and technology sectors.

Steve Townes, SC Aerospace Chairman and CEO of Ranger Aerospace was the Aerospace keynote speaker and AJ Ratani, President of Technology from Red Ventures provided the Technology keynote.

A company spotlight panel featured five entrepreneurs who shared their personal insights on starting a business.  Chuck Myers from Chippewa Aero Group and Jeremy Bass fro Executive Helicopters represented the aerospace sector on the panel. Garth Cook from Boeing moderated an Education Panel comprised of representatives from the K-12 education system, the South Carolina Technical College System, universities and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics.

Two breakout sessions focused on aerospace related issues; Ramy Harik, a professor from USC, provided an Intro to Composites and Anita Patel and Dorette Coetsee, trade experts from the state and federal Departments of Commerce discussed services available to help aerospace companies get into the export game.

A large group participated in the aerospace tour which showcased the Myrtle Beach International Technology and Aerospace Park and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics education and training facility.
