Midlands region releases competitiveness report, business leadership to create working groups
EngenuitySC recently released its third-annual Midlands Regional Competitiveness Report, ranking the Columbia metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in relation to nine other Southeastern metropolitan regions. The report ranks MSAs in five economically competitive indicators: talent, entrepreneurial/business environment, innovation, industry clusters and livability.
The Midlands Business Leadership Group has announced that it will form working groups of the region’s business leaders to work on issues related to the five economically competitive indicators studied in the Midlands Regional Competitiveness Report.
Among the five indicators, Columbia ranks eighth in talent, seventh in entrepreneurial & business environment, eighth in innovative capacity, seventh in industry clusters and second in livability. In addition to rankings, the report also identifies positive and negative trends for each index. The new MBLG-created working groups will use these trends to identify areas of focus.
