Jim Reynolds Receives Order of the Palmetto

Total Comfort Solutions CEO and longtime New Carolina leader Jim Reynolds was awarded the Order of the Palmetto from the Governor Nikki Haley. The award is the state’s highest civilian honor awarded for extraordinary lifetime achievement and service to the state. SC Senator John E. Courson, on behalf of Governor Haley, presented Reynolds with the award on July 16th at the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.

“Jim has chaired our Education and Workforce Development Task Force since its inception in 2005,” said Ann Marie Stieritz, president & CEO of New Carolina. “Jim’s work building bridges between education and business in South Carolina has created a culture of trust between the two communities resulting in better alignment in public education and workforce development efforts in our state. His leadership of the Task Force was key in the implementation of the Education and Economic Development Act of 2005, WorkKeys, QuickJobs and Apprenticeship Carolina, and he continues to be instrumental to more recent efforts such as TransformSC.”

Reynolds served as the Chairman of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce in 2012. He was selected as the SC Chamber’s 2010 Business Leader of the Year in recognition of his outstanding public service leadership. He is a past chair of the Midlands Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees and has served on the board for more than 14 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and an MBA from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Judy, have one daughter, Kathryn.
