iTs|SC, Columbia’s Insurance Technology and Services cluster graduated eight participants from its first annual Leadership Insurance program. The program was designed for up-and-comers of the local insurance tech and services industry, attracting some of the local industry’s highest potential employees. Participants ranged in age and experience, and came from five different companies from around the Midlands.
The program provides a deep-dive into different areas of the industry, delivering context and experience to professionals who otherwise may not have a chance to explore sectors of the industry in which they do not work. For example, an underwriter may not have professional experience in sales and marketing, but knowledge in an array of areas is a plus when being considered for leadership roles. The course also provided leadership training and placed an emphasis on networking and building connections with others in the course and members of iTs|SC.
“Leadership Insurance 2014 provided me the perfect opportunity to network with other insurance professionals in the Midlands, learn more about their organizations and about the broader insurance industry,” said Jason Zier of Colonial Life, a 2014 Leadership Insurance graduate. “It was definitely time well invested!”
Leadership Insurance 2015 will kick off in March; applications for the program are due February 27.
