Insurance Tech and Services Companies Discuss Midlands Cluster
Talented workforce attracts new company
On June 23, iTs|SC, the insurance technology and services cluster of the Midlands, hosted a panel discussion with:
- Nimish Sankalia – Senior Vice President – Insurance Services, Majesco
- Denise Garth, Senior Vice President for Strategic Marketing, Industry Relations and Innovation, Majesco.
- Chad Hardaway – Associate Director, USC/Columbia Technology Incubator
- Sam McGuckin – President & CEO, TCube Solutions
Majesco was founded over 30 years ago, but is new to the Columbia market. Sankalia and Garth revealed during the discussion that it was the commitment of higher education institutions and the quality of talent that drew the company to Columbia.
Hardaway discussed the support available to growing companies in the Midlands region through the USC/Columbia Technology Incubator and the Office of Economic Engagement, while McGuckin brought an entrepreneur’s perspective to the discussion. McGuckin started TCube Solutions, Inc., in 2013 to provide back-office technology products for property and casualty insurance companies.
The insurance technology and services cluster in the Midlands is home to more than 40 companies with a total economic impact of $6.7 billion, making it a true innovation cluster in the state of South Carolina. The range of companies that comprise this ecosystem varies widely, from fast-growing, Columbia based startups, to global corporations conducting an Initial Public Offering, to well established consulting firms.
iTs|SC Executive Speaker Series events are hosted quarterly. Stay tuned for details on the next event.
