Charleston region launches competitiveness strategy

CRDA_OneRegion_Logo_Web-RGBThe Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce have announced the launch of One Region, an initiative aimed at making the Charleston region a globally competitive location.

The strategy is designed to guide the region’s economic, workforce and community development efforts over the course of five years to encourage collaboration and drive growth and prosperity across the three-county region.

The six-month strategic planning process was led by the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and also included an 80-member Advisory Group. Council President & CEO Ann Marie Stieritz served on the Steering Committee.  Three in-depth reports were produced, including a competitive assessment, the identification of target industry clusters and competencies and the strategic action plan.

Research has identified five high impact industry clusters that are recommended to be the focus of the region’s Global Competitiveness Strategy. Those five clusters are: aerospace, automotive, information technology, life sciences and advanced logistics.
